Why Choose Woodville?

Woodville District Basketball Club competes in South Australia’s junior and senior basketball competitions. We are one of just 10 member clubs in Basketball SA’s competitions. We provide complete pathways from 6 year olds to seniors.

It is our objective to:

  • Promote, advance, foster and cultivate junior and senior Basketball.
  • Educate, train and encourage junior members through the game of Basketball to realise their full potential.
  • Encourage, advance and assist in the personal development of each member in a safe, friendly and fun environment through a sense of fair play and a love of sport.
  • Promote the bonds of friendship and fellowship between all members of Woodville District Basketball Club. 


We are a community focused, not for profit, volunteer run club that want to further members in their basketball career, we only survive and are sustainable by our members helping out with roles such as coaches, team managers, junior committees. 


Our financial targets are met by volunteers fundraising and our club members.

District v Association

Association - Our Association pathway is through the Westside Basketball Association this is aimed at children who are just starting basketball.  Association is all played at St Clair on a Saturday afternoon with 1 training on a Sunday afternoon. Each seasons run for the school term.

Association is a coordinated introductory program covering all children/schools across the whole region

The cost of Association basketball can be either games and training, or just training. All players have to pay the Basketball SA Affiliation fee as this covers your insurance whilst playing and training.


District - Woodville District Basketball Club competes in South Australia’s junior and senior basketball competitions. We are one of just 10 member clubs in Basketball SA’s competitions. We provide complete pathways from 6-year-olds to seniors.  The Warriors are the elite basketball offering of the Westside Basketball Association. 

When games are played

UNDER 10s

  • All divisions - Saturday mornings

UNDER 12s 

  • Division 1 and 2 – Friday nights
  • Division 3 and below - Saturday mornings

UNDER 14s 

  • Division 1 and 2 - Friday nights
    Division 3 and below - Saturday mornings

UNDER 16s

  • Division 1 and 2 - Friday nights
    Division 3 and below - Thursday nights (please note these games will NOT be at St Clair)

UNDER 18s 

  • All divisions - Friday nights

UNDER 23s

  • All divisions - Tuesday nights

When are practices?

All teams have a one and a half hour practice at St Clair on a Sunday, every team also has a week night training one and a half hours, which may be at St Clair or could be at a local school gym.

Are practices compulsory?

You are expected to attend all trainings.

Year long calendar

District Basketball Season 2023-24. 

The 2023-24 District basketball calendar will be as follows:

a) Grading Season Commence Early Oct 2023 through to mid December 2023 

b) Clubs will be required to nominate teams in Div 1 and 2 (Juniors) who will play a 9 round competition. Teams nominated to divisions 3 and below will play a grading season in line with details previously supplied (subject to the number of team nominations in each age group) 

c) The summer season will be followed by an 18 week full season starting in Early Feb with finals finishing in August 2024. 

d) By-laws will be written in line with grading requirements. 

Playing multiple sports

We understand that sports are important for kids to keep them active. If you have competing demands with your other sports please speak to your coach to help juggle this.

Fees

The membership fees for district players are recommended by the Executive Committee to the Board each year, as part of the overall budget process. *fees still to be set by the board for 2023-24. This will be decided when the 2023-24 season format is finalised by BasketballSA

New players pathway

Westside Basketball Association provides a pathway between entry programs and District level.

Uniform and playing number

Uniform policy

Game Day

Players are required to be in full playing uniform at all times when on the court or on the bench. This includes during warm up. Playing uniform, warm up top, hoodie etc.

Training

Players are required to attend training in Woodville attire at all times. This should include either your reversible training singlet or reversible game top. Warm up tops or jumpers may be worn on top of these as required
